Manfred von Ardenne (1907-1997) German physicist of high frequency technology. Ardenne invented items of radio television, electron optics and use of nuclear energy technology. Ardenne also showed that a cathode-ray tube is not only for reproduction of transmitted pictures, but also as a scanner for objects and slides.
