Model (scale 1:5). Designed by F Searle and produced by the London General Omnibus Company at their works in Walthamstow, the B type was the world’s first mass-produced motor bus. The type B bus was a substantial improvement on the first London motor buses introduced in 1905. The chassis and body were made as light as possible to conform with police regulations which limited the unladen weight of the vehicle to 3.5 tons. The buses were powered by a four cylinder engine giving 30 hp at 800 rpm, and seating was provided for 34 passengers, 18 outside on top and 16 downstairs inside the bus.
