Etching by W Daniell from a drawing by George Dance. Cavallo (1749-1809) was of Italian birth but lived in London where he wrote on electricity and made important improvements in electroscopes and condensers. His 'Treatise on Electricity' went through five editions and in the 1795 edition he presented Galvani's and Volta's new discoveries. He also translated Volta's papers for the Royal Society.
