Ian St John (b 1938) was a Scottish footballer who started his footballing career for Motherwell FC in 1958. In 1961 he went on to play centre-forward for Liverpool FC for ten years, moving to Coventry City in 1971. He managed various clubs between 1972-1979, before joining Granada Televison to present ‘On the Ball’ in 1979. He famously teamed up with another ex-footballer, Jimmy Greaves (b 1940), to present ITV’s popular sports programme ‘Saint & Greavsie’ in 1984, and is still a regular sports commentator.
