Photogravure after a painting or photograph. Emil Hermann Fischer (1852-1919) was a leading figure in his field. He elucidated the chemistry of carbohydrates, and founded protein chemistry. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1902. From a collection of portraits of scientists published by Photographische Gesellschaft, Berlin, 1910. Dimensions: 460mm x 340mm.
