‘Iron Works, Colebrook Dale’, 1805.

Aquatint engraving by William Pickett, hand-coloured by John Clark, after an original work by Philippe-Jacques de Loutherbourg. The scene shows a view towards the famous Shropshire iron works along the riverside road, which is strewn with iron pipings. Metalwork from the Coalbrookdale iron works was exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851. Plate taken from ‘The Romantic and Picturesque Scenery of England and Wales’, published by Robert Bowyer in 1805.
