Ticket offices not only sold tickets but gave passengers information about trains and could reserve seats or compartments. They had plans for all available trains to book seats and they noted down passengers requirements such as how many seats they would need, how much luggage they were bringing and even what they wanted to eat on the journey. Outside this office are a weighing machine, and a vending machine containing chocolate, cigarettes and matches.
