Advertisement for Chappuis’ patent reflectors, c 1851-1870.

Two engravings show an office lit by gas compared to an office using natural light with Chappuis’ patent reflectors which ‘improve natural daylight and supersede gas’. From a group of ten advertisements for gas engineers, gas fitters and lamp manufacturers taken from a collection of prints and books documenting the early history of the gas industry amassed by Sir Arthur Elton.
