Coronation Train, 1948

The Coronation train, pulled by a diesel locomotive number 1719, February 1948. The Coronation carried passengers between London King's Cross and Edinburgh. It left King's Cross at 4.00 pm and arrived in Edinburgh at 10.00pm. It had been running since 1937. It was usually pulled by streamlined A4 Pacific locomotives but in this photograph it is hauled by a diesel engine.
